How To Preserve Your TIki? Wet Weather Vs. Dry Weather

Now that you own a Tiki, you may wonder how can I preserve it for many years to come? They are a few different factors to take into consideration: for instance are you in a dry weather type, hunid ot wet?
Also, what type of wood is your Tiki, the wood in fact has different properties like metal, plastic and many other materials. After nearly 10 years in dealing with Tiki products TIkimaster.com has come up with great solutions to not only maintain but preserve your "Tiki" investment.
Pine Wood: Pine is a light weight wood that has a tendency to reat very quickly to the element from expanding when it's humid to cracking when it's hot and dry. Remember, a crack is not a defect! It is the normal course that the wood takes when exposed to different elements. It is best to apply wax to any type of pine carvings which will one nourish the wood, two will repel the water when wet. If the weather is dry, inevitably you will see some some cracks which can be filled with some wood filler.
Palm Wood: Palm has the caracteristic to keep the water in that's why when you purchased your palm Tiki the weight felt really heavy...well it is a good thing. The drier it will get, the weaker it will be! The best analogy is your skin/body, if you don't drink then you become de-hydrated to the point where your skin would literally wrinkle at a certain extent. Same with palm, we recommend to water your totem from the top. But make sure that your totem is sitting on a concrete base otherwise your Tiki will rot from the bottom if it touches the ground not to mention that depending on your location, termites and other insects will get to it.
Monkey Pod Wood: Monkey Pod (Acacia Koa) is the ultimate wood for indoor and outdoor use. The wood is dense which allows the maximum details when carved. To maintain your Acacia Koa Tiki, simply apply some Thompson water sealant for complete water protection or some tung oil for a more polish oil looking finish.

KAMAKANI ENT., INC AT ASR TRADESHOW IN SAN DIEGO 2008

For the first time we were lucky enough to meet the "Tiki" team from Hawaii. The ASR tradeshow was taking place at the convention center in San Diego for 3 days from September 4-6. While the larger companies were around, we noticed a decline in smaller companies. But Hawaii was represented really well with Mauna Kai Hawaii (Surf jewelry and accessories) and Kamakani Enterprises, Inc also known as TIkimaster.com (Specialized in Tiki decor, surf decor, coastal and nautical decor, Hawaiian decor, pirate and skull & bones decor).

Based on various feedback the show was not as busy as the previous years for the mere reason that the economic landscape is affecting the attendence. Jerome Coudrier from Kamakani Enterprises, Inc was very please with their first show and explain that some key contacts have been made.

Stand up paddle board keeps growing and we noticed that more and more manfacturer were jumping on the band wagon. We expect the next show to be greater also being that the elections are only less than 2 month away, we are all in a wait and see frame of mind.

Tikimaster.com, a division of Kamakani Enterprises, Inc is spreading its wing in the mainland by attending multiple tradeshows. President Jerome Coudrier is going to reallocate some marketing budget for 2009. We guarantee to tikify the next few shows and we are looking forward to feature our new product lines: beach decor, pirate decor and the newly developped skull and bones decor.

Wooden Beach Signs - Hand Carved Beach Decor - Life Is A Beach By Tikimaster!

We found recently that beach signs are quite wide spread across the U.S. During our last holiday in Hawaii, we discovered that Tikis is not the only hot decor item on the islands of Hawaii. Beach decor is actually the most common type of decor, same for California, Florida, New Jersey, Virginia, all the way to New England.

Beach decor is enhanced by wooden beach signs, weathered coastal or nautical signs...each are hand carved and hand painted with great attention to details.

Most colors used for the beach decor is more soft, almost pastel type of colors. We found that Beach-Signs.com and Tikimaster.com have the best selection of beach signs. And if you are not so much into beach decor then both Web sites also carries lake decor signs, nautical decor signs, coastal decor signs and surf decor signs.

The interesting thing is that each decor theme overlaps each other in some form or fashion.

For more information check out htt://www.tikimaster.com or http://www.beach-signs.com for a comprehensive list of custom/hand made beach signs decor!

Rembering The Old Hawaii With These Bamboo Nostalgia Painted Frames - By Tikimaster.com

During our last trip to Oahu we came across these one of a kind bamboo painted frames depicting scenes from the old Hawaii. Eventhough we 've found them in other shop or Web sites, the quality were far superior from the stand point that each one was hand carved and hand painted with great attention to details.

This Hawaiiana shop or showroom was located on the outside skirt of the East side of Oahu, a little town named Kailua. Actually if you have been watching the news this is were Barrack Obama stayed during his trip to Hawaii. The store is called Kamakani Enterprises, Inc with over 15,000 sq/ft of Tiki decor, Surf decor, Pirate decor, Coastal and Nautical decor, Hawaiian decor and Skull & Bones decor. You can also find them on the Web at www.tikimaster.com.

Shy of being a candy store for grown up, you will be sure to find a great conversation piece for your next Luau party. The selection of Tikis is without a doubt the largest one, from 8 inches Tikis to 10 footers it is absolutely mesmerizing. Prior to visiting Hawaii, my wife and I were in San Diego and we had the chance to visit quite a few Tiki stores. Some of them even claim to have the largest selection of Tikis in the country...well this notion has been redefined.

Pirate Decor & Pirate Signs At Tikimaster.com

Well, we all know that Hawaii is known for its Tikis and Polynesian carvings...California is as well known for its surf culture.
We found that Florida is actually known for its pirate decor! Interestingly enough, Tikis are tied to them indirectly. You could very well have your Tiki bar as the center piece and use a Tiki carving with either some surf accessories such as hand carved surf signed or some pirate signs or vintage pirate framed paintings.

Did you know this amount pirate history: The history of piracy dates back more than 3000 years, but its true word depends on the actual meaning of the word ‘pirate’. In English, the word piracy has many different meanings and its usage is still pretty new. Today, some uses of the word have no particular meaning at all.

A meaning was first ascribed to the word piracy sometime before the XVII century. It seems the word pirate (peirato) was first used in about 140 BC by the Roman historian Polybius. The Greek historian Plutarch, writing in about 100 A.D., gave the oldest clear definition of piracy. He described pirates as those who attack without legal authority not only ships, but also maritime cities. Piracy was described for the first time, among others, in Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey.

Beach Decor At Beach-Signs.com - Rustic Beach Signs

Beach decor at its finest: As one of Hawaii's finest manufacturer and online gift catalog companies, Beach-Signs.com offer a large selection of products such as: Beach Signs, Beach decor Accessories, Wooden Surf Signs, Cottage Wooden Panels, Cottage Decor, Oars and Paddles Beach Style, Beach House Signs, Beach Decor Products.

My wife and I were actually surprised to see such a diversify collection of beach home decor products in Hawaii. While Hawaii is mostly known for his Tikis, we found that beach decor is not only within the continental US. Each piece was designed, hand carved and hand painted with great attention to details.

The great thing with beach decor is that it encompasses the Tiki lifestyle, beach style of course but also cottage decor, coastal and somewhat nautical. The colors used for beach decor are more neutral, you may say pastel colors but we like foremost the weathered look of them.
This is were Beach-Signs.com exceeded our expectation with a great selection of vintage and weathered looking signs which happens to be brand new.

We received a warm welcome (Aloha) from the owners where we were able to visit their facility, we now officially have a room in our California house that is strictly decorated with beach signs and beach accessories.

Fijian Tiki Masks By Tikimaster.com - Fijian Art Carving

We've all seen most likely a Tiki mask while traveling in Hawaii or simply on your computer while surfing the Web. Tiki masks are a great way to add a tropical feel to your home; originated from Hawaii the designs actually have changed over the years through different cultures. For instance a Tongan or Samoan carver will have a different interpretation than a carver from Hawaii; hence the final Tiki carving will be slightly different.

We actually found a couple of great Web sites with the most comprehensive selection of Tiki masks on the Web. From Hawaiian Tiki masks, to Fijian Tiki masks or even tribal Tiki masks...Source-Tropical.com and Tikimaster.com carry the largest selection of Tiki carvings.

Fijian masks are usually carved out of iron wood also known as Vesi wood. The wood is kept under ground for a few month to give it a natural black color, that's how the carvings will come out after completion. The earthy red color masks have a red dirt stain added to them.

Fijian Tiki masks are very easily identifiable because often they will feature hand carved turtles, geckos, or ceremonial dancing knife also known as Nifo Oti.

For more information on Fijian masks, call Keoni at 808-781-3126 "Your Fijian Mask Expert"

Tiki Summer 2008 - Perfect Outdoor Tikis For Budget Conscious People!

After reviewing multiple Tiki Web sites, we narrow down our searches to some pretty great Tikis. Tikimaster.com from Hawaii has been able to combine look with budget. This beautiful Tiki Kanaloa - Tiki of the ocean measures 40" high and is made from pine, hand waxed to a beautiful brown finish.
We found that the Tiki carving was deep and not just superficial which makes a great conversation piece around a ice cold Mai-Tai.

We were lucky enough during our trip to Hawaii to meet with the Tikimaster who took us to meet one of their master carver Kealoha from the Waianae valley.

Bamboo Tiki Decor: Bamboo - Bamboo Poles - Bamboo Fencing - Bamboo Decoration

Bamboo Tiki Décor: Bamboo is an excellent way to add an organic vibe with pure elegance to any home. Bamboo can be used both inside and outside. Bamboo is not only beautiful, but it is also easy to maintain, and easy on the earth! According to the laws of Feng Shui, luck and prosperity will be an addition to your home when you use bamboo as a decorating element. When using bamboo inside your home, try adding it to already existing foliage and/or flowers, or go all out and create a unique arrangement with just bamboo. Using bamboo of different lengths in a large, ornate pot, with up lighting, can create a simple, yet sophisticated Eastern Asian piece of art decor. Another creative way to use bamboo indoors, is as a chair rail along your walls. Splice medium to large bamboo down the center and adhere horizontally to the lower half of your wall. This will create a very tropical feel to any room. If you need to separate a large room into smaller section, try using 3-4 foot tall bamboo fencing to section off the areas needed. Bamboo also makes a design statement when used outdoors. If you need to create a barrier, either from a neighbor, pool, or perhaps a garden or children’s play area, try using bamboo as your medium of separation. Bamboo is easily attachable to already existing fences that need a face lift, or bamboo can be used on it’s own to create separation. Bamboo works much better than traditional plastic, metal or vinyl fencing because of it’s natural look and feel. You’ll notice how your landscaping pops around bamboo.
