The most popular Hawaiian gifts are tikis, tiki bars, Hawaiian tropical decor, and Hawaiian dashboard dolls. The tikis, tiki bar, the tropical décor and the dashboard doll pieces or materials are especially hand-crafted by highly trained and experienced craftsmen. The carved tikis include tiki masks of various types such as Hawaiian tiki masks, Fijian tiki masks, painted tiki masks, and bamboo tiki masks. The other unique carved tikis in Hawaiian gifts are tiki bars, tiki totems, primitive tikis, modern tikis, and tiki wall plaques.
The special Hawaiian tropical décor gift items lay emphasis on outdoor accent. They consist of items like outdoor tikis, tiki signs, ornamentally carved outdoor lanterns, architectural pots, bamboo poles, fencing, and accessories, thatches and thatch covers, tropical furniture, tropical matting, and outdoor tiki bar items. The tropical décor items also include painted reliefs, vintage frames, printed and poster gift pieces such as Hawaiian flora, hula dance, mermaids, floral images, aloha tropical signs, nautical signs, palm girls, sunset travel, romantic moonlight, and ukulele, apart from photographic tropical décor memorabilia like nostalgic photography and surfing photography.Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Giant Tiki: How To Move A Large Tiki By Tikimaster.com?

The largest Tiki that we carved so far is about 10 feet with a diameter of about 3.5 feet. The picture showns was carved from a 200 year old airpod tree from the Waikiki zoo. The Tiki is now overseeing the Northshore of Maui. The challenge like every large pieces is to move them before, during and especially after they have been carved. The forklift is the best way to go with large straps secured around the butt and the neck which will balance out the statue perfectly.
Large Tiki Carvings for Your Customers! TikiMaster.com not only has a huge selection of tiki masks, but we also have an enormous array of tiki statues and tiki totems; all of which will make you and your clients dream of Polynesia! Tiki Summer 2008 - Perfect Outdoor Tikis For Budget Conscious People!
After reviewing multiple Tiki Web sites, we narrow down our searches to some pretty great Tikis. Tikimaster.com from Hawaii has been able to combine look with budget. This beautiful Tiki Kanaloa - Tiki of the ocean measures 40" high and is made from pine, hand waxed to a beautiful brown finish.
We found that the Tiki carving was deep and not just superficial which makes a great conversation piece around a ice cold Mai-Tai.
We were lucky enough during our trip to Hawaii to meet with the Tikimaster who took us to meet one of their master carver Kealoha from the Waianae valley.

King Kamehameha Storyboards @ Tikimaster.com

TikiMaster.com has more than just tikis and tiki masks, we have the largest selection of hand carved Hawaiian storyboards. Today, we are featuring the storyboard that dipicts King Kamehameha's crossing of the Molokai Channel. After taking Maui and Molokai, his war canoes crossed the channel and landed at Waialae and Waikiki, on O`ahu. As Kamehameha's warriors pushed up Nuuanu Valley, they were fired upon by two cannons causing great loss of life and destruction. Kamehameha sent a division of his best men to double back and climb the ridge above Pauoa Valley. A runner was sent to the reserve forces in Waikiki with instructions to climb Manoa Valley and follow the ridge trail to Nuuanu Pali where they would join the other division to capture the cannons. Stunned by this military manuever, the Oahu warriors defended their positions in vain and fought to the bitter end. Some escaped over the mountains, others were pushed over the pali and many, rather than surrender, plunged to their deaths from the 1000 ft. cliffs. The decisive battle of Nuuanu Pali gave Kamehameha control of the islands, except Kauai, that remained independent.Check out all of our Hawaiian storyboards at Tikimaster.com! Kanaloa Tiki - Tiki of the Sea
Kanaloa is one of the four great tiki gods of Hawaiian mythology, along with Kāne, Kū, and Lono. He is the local form of a Polynesian tiki deity generally connected with the sea.
In the traditions of ancient Hawaiʻi, Kanaloa is symbolized by the squid or by the octopus, and is typically associated with Kāne in legends and chants where they are portrayed as complementary powers. For example: Kāne was called upon during the building of a canoe, Kanaloa during the sailing of it; Kāne governed the northern edge of the ecliptic, Kanaloa the southern. In this way, they represent a divine duality of wild and taming forces like those observed like the popular yin-yang of Chinese Taoism.
Kanaloa is also considered to be the tiki god of the Underworld and a teacher of magic. Legends state that he became the leader of the first group of spirits "spit out" by the gods. In time, he led them in a rebellion in which the spirits were defeated by the gods and as punishment were thrown in the Underworld.
Find several kanaloa tikis and kanaloa tiki masks at Tikimaster.com! We have the largest selection of tikis and tiki masks on the web!

Explore the Bishop Museum

Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop in honor of his late wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha family. The Museum was established to house the extensive collection of Hawaiian artifacts and royal family heirlooms of the Princess, and has expanded to include millions of artifacts, documents and photographs about Hawai‘i and other Pacific island cultures.
Mr. Bishop built the magnificent Polynesian and Hawaiian Halls on the grounds of the original Kamehameha Schools for Boys. The Museum and School shared the Kapālama campus until 1940 when a new larger school complex was opened nearby on Kapālama Heights.
Today, Bishop Museum is the largest museum in the state and the premier natural and cultural history institution in the Pacific, recognized throughout the world for its cultural collections, research projects, consulting services and public educational programs. It also has one of the largest natural history specimen collections in the world. Serving and representing the interests of Native Hawaiians is a primary purpose of the Museum.
The Museum also operates two other institutions: Hawaii Maritime Center (located in Honolulu Harbor next to Aloha Tower Marketplace) and the Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden (on the island of Hawai'i ).
Tikimaster.com is honored to carry several tikis that are replicated after the original pieces at the Bishop Museum. These include: tikis, totems, tiki masks, and koa weaponry.

LONO - The Tiki God of Fertility

Lono was the Hawaiian God of fertility. It is believed that he bestowed offspring to mankind and who was said to come down in rain to make crops grow.
In Hawaii , the clouds and the phenomena of storms are associated with Lono. When the statement, "with head hidden in the dark clouds above" is recited, it is usually referring to Lono.
During prayer to Lono, signs of the god are named thunder, lightening, earthquake, the dark cloud, the rainbow, rain, wind, whirlwinds that sweep the earth, waterspouts, the clustering clouds of heaven, and gushing springs on the mountains. Lono brings on the rains and dispenses fertility.
"Your bodies, O Lono, are in the heavens,
A long cloud, a short cloud,
A watchful cloud,
An overlooking cloud; in the heavens (it is),
From Uliuli, from Melemele,
From Polapola, from Ha‘eha‘e,
From Omao-ke-ulu-lu,
From the land that gave birth to Lono.
Behold Lono places the stars
That sail resplendent through the heavens.
High resplendent is the great image of Lono;
The stem of Lono links our dynasties with Kahiki, Has lifted them up,
Purified them in the ether of Lono. . . . "
Lono is also know as the god of harvest. Lono-makua (Father Lono), is the name given to portray the god during the Pre-Contact time. Lono's role has generally confined to the celebration of games.
This beautiful tiki is a favorite of tiki collectors. Many keep this idol on their desk or beside their bed to help fill their homes and lives with great fertility.

Tiki Means Tropical Decor! Does it also ignite Ralaxation & Island Lifestyle?
But what does it really take to feel like you're spending a relaxing vacation in Hawaii, Fiji or Taihiti?
Of course a few Mai-Tai would do the trick or some Kava... With a cool set up, tikified room, bamboo and thatch covering the walls, Tiki mugs everywhere for your favorite cocktails. A cranked out heater during the cold winter...get your Aloha shirt out and get ready to truly enjoy your island lifestyle weekend.
After traveling to Fiji, I realized that it was not realistic to be as relax as the Fijian simply because we create too much stress around us. So maybe I thought if I start sleeping with a coconut under my head as a pillow I will really start to feel the island lifestyle.
Well, let me tell you that did not work too well! I prefer to focus on the Tiki decor accessories, my Aloha shirt, a few Mai-Tai and off you go!
For free consultation on turning one of your room into a tropical hideaways, please call Pohaku at 808-263-8454. A Hui Hou!

Tiki Mugs - Can't Have Tiki Mugs Without a Tiki Bar?

We all know that there is a huge craze about Tiki mugs! It started years ago, thanks to Ebay! I personally increased my collection of Tiki mugs, mostly vintage Tiki mugs...thanks to Ebay!
But how can you collect hundred of Tiki mugs and not have a cool Tiki Bar to greet your friends on the weekend! But, they are many Web site that offers reproduction of the original Tiki mugs for a fraction of the price. Yes, I have spent as high as $250 for a Tiki mug...but I have seen mugs go as high as $1000 go to deeper pockets :-)
Tiki Farm is of course a really course source for Tiki mugs but Thor Hawaii is also a very good designer and manufacturer of Tiki mugs.
So of course, what do you do? You go out and look for the ultimate Tiki bar that will enhance your tropical decor and lifestyle in a big way. Tikimaster.com has been a leader in affordable Tiki bars (see pics); and without breaking the bank you can add a nice Hawaiian touch with Tiki masks, Tiki totems and many other Tiki accessories. Again, we found that TikiOutlet.com was a very user friendly Web site and offering Tiki products at a fraction of the retail price.

Tiki Blog - First Tiki Sketch Of A Humanize Tiki Totem
We have a fairly large company (unfortunately we cannot name it at this time) who asked us to incorporate the 2 owners/partners of the company into a Tiki totem by respecting the characteristics of each person.1) First, the challenge is that both are female and most Tikis are male. So first we have to adjust the way the Tiki face is going to look like to appease the look and feel of the Tiki. Yet, someone who knows the two partners should be able to tell who it is. Basically, we sketched out the "50,000 foot view" of what direction we are going and get approval from our customer.
2) Second, we use clay to fashion the true look of each person but yet keeping the Tiki look...this is really an art form of sculpture. Unfortunately, this phase took us at least 20 takes before we could reach the desired result.
3) Finally, we executed the mold into the final production with first the chainsaw for the main lines of the Tiki totem and of course the chisels for the detail carvings.
