Pineapple Aloha at Tikimaster.com
Did you know that the pineapple didn't originate in Hawaii? It actually originated in Mexico and historians believe that a ship coming from South America, that wrecked off of the coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, brought tools and pineapples to Hawaii. Later, in 1851, James Drummond Dole founded Dole Foods Company, which is the largest producer of pineapple in the world!
In Hawaii, the pineapple has become known as the symbol of hospitality. So, of course, Tikimaster.com, the web's largest supplier of tikis and Hawaiiana on the web, has a special line of pineapple products. Tikimaster.com has pineapple welcome signs, a tiki with a pineapple top, pineapple decorative paddles, pineapple tiki masks, vintage pineapple company signs, and much much more.
To see all of the pineapple tiki products, visit Tikimaster.com and find the search bar at the bottom of the home page. Simply enter "pineapple" and you'll find over 50 results! We know that you will find great hospitality at Tikimaster.com! Aloha from the pineapple state!

Please Remove Your Shoes - Aloha Signs & Surf Decor
Removing your shoes before entering someone's home or your own home is a tradition that is not only part of the Japanese culture, but also a custom for those of us who live in Hawaii. Because Hawaii's culture is so closely tied to that of the Japanese, you will find that Hawaii respects many of Japan's customs. No matter where you live, you may want to adapt your home to this custom, and Tikimaster.com is here to help with wood and ceramic tiles that will let your guests know to remove their shoes.
It is the custom in every Japanese household to take one's shoes off when entering the house. It is generally considered polite to wear shoes instead of sandals, but sandal wearers may carry a pair of white socks to put over their bare feet or stockings, so that their bare feet will not touch the slippers that the host offers. The shoes are turned around so that the toe faces the door after taking them off. If during the winter time, a guest is wearing a coat or hat, the guest will take it off before the host opens the door. When the guest is leaving, he or she does not put on the coat or hat until the door has closed.
Removing one's shoes is not only a Japanese custom, but it is also a great way to keep your home clean and free of germs. Families with small children who play on the ground or crawl will especially be interested in adopting the removing of shoes custom.
For all of our wood and ceramic signs, please visit tikimaster.com.

MOAI - Easter Island Tiki
One of the world's most famous yet least visited archaeological sites, Easter Island is a small, hilly, now treeless island of volcanic origin. Located in the Pacific Ocean 2200 miles off the coast of Chile, it is considered to be the world’s most remote inhabited island. The oldest known traditional name of the island is Te Pito o Te Henua, meaning ‘The Center (or Navel) of the World.’ In the 1860’s Tahitian sailors gave the island the name Rapa Nui, meaning ‘Great Rapa,’ due to its resemblance to another island in Polynesia called Rapa Iti, meaning ‘Little Rapa’. The island received its most well known current name, Easter Island, from the Dutch sea captain Jacob Roggeveen who became the first European to visit Easter Sunday, April 5, 1722.
That culture's most famous features are its enormous stone tiki statues called moai, at least 288 of which once stood upon massive stone platforms called ahu. There are some 250 of these ahu platforms spaced approximately one half mile apart and creating an almost unbroken line around the perimeter of the island. Another 600 moai statues, in various stages of completion, are scattered around the island, either in quarries or along ancient roads between the quarries and the coastal areas where the tiki statues were most often erected. Nearly all the moai are carved from the tough stone of the Rano Raraku volcano. The average statue is 14 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 14 tons. Some moai were as large as 33 feet and weighed more than 80 tons (one statue only partially quarried from the bedrock was 65 feet long and would have weighed an estimated 270 tons). Depending upon the size of the tiki statues, it has been estimated that between 50 and 150 people were needed to drag them across the countryside on sleds and rollers made from the island's trees.

A Fond Aloha to 2 Tiki Family Members!
We would like to wish a fond farewell and a bon voyage with tons of tiki aloha to Paul and Annick. Not only were these two terrific tikis invaluable partners for tikimaster.com, but they were also beloved grandparents and parents! Paul and Annick spent almost three years in Hawaii helping tikimaster.com to become the best tiki site on the web!
Paul helped on buying trips to scout out the hottest tiki totems, tiki masks, and everything else tiki that you could possibly imagine. He also was the inventor tiki repair, and was the master stainer when it came to taking care of our dear tikis. Paul didn't stop there, in his spare time he worked hard to optimize tikimaster.com like a pro.
Annick was the master packager at tikimaster.com! She made sure that all of our cool tikis arrived to their new homes in perfect condition. We had a joke around the warehouse that she was the "machine"! No one could ever move as fast as Annick and not make any mistakes! Annick was also responsible for feeding all of the hungry tikis and keeping everything neat and tiddy.
Tikimaster.com won't be the same without these two cool tikis, but we know that they will enjoy their retirement in Honfleur, France. We think tiki totems and tiki masks will look great in their new, giant yard, and to make sure we'll be bringing them the coolest tikis around very soon!
From all of us at tikimaster.com - Aloha and Mahalo for all of your hard work with the tikis! You'll be missed!

Go Green! Bamboo Tiki Masks at Tikimaster.com
Tikimaster.com has a huge selection of tiki masks, but did you know that they carry a very unique tiki mask that is made out of bamboo? Our skilled craftsmen select just the perfect piece of bamboo and then carefully hand carve a one of a kind tiki face into the bamboo. After, the carvers meticulously hand paint the masks to add greater detail.
Why buy a bamboo tiki mask? Bamboo is a very green, earth friendly medium to use for tiki masks because it is a renewable resource that grow back very quickly. Here are a few other great reasons to purchase a bamboo tiki mask:
Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant on this planet. It grows one third faster than the fastest growing tree. Some species can grow up to 1 meter per day. One can almost "watch it grow". This growth pattern makes it easily accessible in a minimal amount of time. Size ranges from miniatures to towering culms of 60 meters.
Bamboo is a critical element in the balance of oxygen / carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Bamboo i s the fastest growing canopy for the regreening of degraded areas and generates more oxygen than equivalent stand of trees. It lowers light intensity and protects against ultraviolet rays and is an atmospheric and soil purifier.
Bamboo is an enduring natural resource. Bamboo can be selectively harvested annually. Bamboo provided the first re-greening in Hiroshima after the atomic blast in 1945. Thomas Edison successfully used a carbonized bamboo filament in his first experiment with the light bulb.
So, even though St. Patrick's day has come and gone, bamboo is a great reason to stay green all year long! Bamboo tiki masks are all the rage and good for the environment. Be sure to check out all of our tiki masks at tikimaster.com!
GO GREEN!

Tiki History For all Tiki Lovers
Tikimaster.com would like to share a bit of tiki history with all of its tiki lovers!
Tiki culture refers to a mid-20th-century theme used in Polynesian-style restaurants and clubs originally in the United States and then, to a lesser degree, around the world. The connection to Tiki, a character in the mythology of portions of the South Pacific, is tenuous at best, but tikis are still crazy popular! Tiki culture in the United States began in 1934 with the opening of Don the Beachcomber, a Polynesian-themed tiki bar and restaurant in Hollywood. The proprietor was Ernest Raymond Beaumont-Gantt, a young man from Louisiana who had sailed throughout the South Pacific; later he legally changed his name to Donn Beach. His tiki restaurant featured Cantonese cuisine and exotic rum punches, with a decor of flaming torches, rattan furniture, flower leis, brightly colored fabrics and tiki decor. Three years later, Victor Bergeron, better known as Trader Vic, adopted a Tiki theme for his restaurant in Oakland, which eventually grew to become a worldwide chain featuring tiki mugs.
Hawaiian Statehood further drove interest in the tiki phenonmenon and Americans fell in love with their romanticized version of an exotic tiki culture. Polynesian design began to infuse every aspect of the country's visual aesthetic, from home accessories to architecture, thus, tikis are just as popular today.

Tikis: Madam Pele, Queen of Fire Tiki - Tiki Decor
She was the daughter of the Earth Goddess Haumea and dwells in the Kilauea volcano. This wild and fiery goddess is widely venerated in Hawaii and other parts of Polynesia. When eruptions threaten towns it is thought that Pele is angry. Her volcanoes are both destroyers and creators of the earth, since her flowing lava makes new land. Pele's husband, the Pig God Kamapua'a, is the inventor of agriculture. Notice the spouting "lava crest" of her comb headdress. Tikimaster's version of Madam Pele was adapted from the 19th century carved wood image, which resides in the Museum of Man, in Paris, France.
Madam Pele grants good luck if you respect her wishes which is to respect the land. It is believed that if you take a piece of lava rock from one of the Hawaiian volcanoes, Pele will put a curse on you until you return the lava.
If you feel like you've been cursed by Madam Pele, we at Tikimaster.com will give you 10% off of this beautiful tiki to wish you good luck!! Also check out this incredible story board which depicts the Hawaiian myth of Madam Pele!

I'm just blown away with my beautiful new spear which arrived at the office this morning - larger and more beautiful that I thought! Thanks for packing so well - it arrived in perfect condition. Looks like you had a job packing it but is much appreciated. My son would be totally envious if he saw so I'll just tell him about it! I'm going to lean up it against the wall in the master bedroom along with my shark spear so I admire every time I pass. Looking forward to my other war clubs which should come in a day or so and also my Tiki - I couldn't pass that particular one up but plan to keep it "dressed". Plan also to buy one more Tiki when I order my next war club. You have a great site and I appreciate the fast response and shipments.
Thanks as always,

Tiki Culture - Modern Tikis Vs. Traditional Tikis? Tikimaster.com Has The Answer!
Now that the Tiki trend is coming back greatly, we are seeing more and more modern Tikis.
If you love the Island Lifestyle, Tiki, Hawaiiana, Polynesian Pop Culture or swaying palm trees, this is the place for you.
Even if you're far away from the islands or coastline. TikiStory.com will bring the islands to you and provide the escape you need to get you through the day.
We feature events, people, art, music, cocktails, food, and the latest in collectible merchandise. Thank you for visiting our website and we hope you'll let us bring the islands to you.
Art and religion, past and present combine in the Polynesian figure of the Tiki.
It is a stone or wood carving in simplified human shape, sometimes small enough to be worn as an ornament, sometimes so large, they could tower over a human.
Believed to have originated in the Marquesas Islands and spreading throughout Polynesia, the typical tiki is a powerful figure with hands clasped over its stomach, a large flat nose, round eyes, and a large, gaping mouth, usually bearing teeth.
By Polynesians, Tiki is said to be the ancestor and creator of humans or, if you will, First Man. Contemporary tiki has evolved and left its religious history behind, and today leans more toward artistic impression. The artist or carver renders his or her own impression of tiki into wood, metal, stone, canvas, or whatever medium they care to use, and we, happy tiki folk, can’t get enough.
For more information on Tikis, visit the largest online store for Tikis, Hawaiian and Island Lifestyle products at Tikimaster.com (http://www.tikimaster.com).
